The Joy of DJing: A Subside Set to Remember
Being a DJ is not just a job—it’s a passion that breathes life into every event, turning moments into unforgettable memories. Last night’s set at Subside, coinciding with the Slam Dunk Festival weekend, was a testament to this joy and energy that fuels my career.
The Night That Rocked Subside
The atmosphere at Subside was electric, with a bustling crowd ready to dance the night away. Familiar faces mingled with new ones, all united by their love for music and the energy that comes from a well-curated playlist. From the moment I stepped behind the decks, I knew it was going to be a night to remember.
Crafting the Perfect Setlist
As a DJ specializing in rock and metal, my goal is always to create a seamless blend of tracks that resonate with the crowd. Knowing that many of our customers were heading to Slam Dunk Festival, I made sure to include bands from the festival lineup, such as Funeral for a Friend, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Mad Caddies, and The Interrupters. The night featured an array of tunes that spanned genres and eras, ensuring there was something for everyone. From the hard-hitting beats of classic metal to the energetic riffs of modern rock, every track was chosen to keep the dance floor alive and kicking.
Highlights from the Playlist
Some standout tracks from the night included:
- “Them Bones” by Alice in Chains: This track set the tone for the night with its powerful riffs and raw energy.
- “Duality” by Slipknot: A crowd favorite that had everyone singing along and moshing with enthusiasm.
- “LosT” by Bring Me The Horizon: The perfect mix of melody and aggression that kept the energy high.
- “Territorial Pissings” by Nirvana: A classic that never fails to ignite the room.
The Joy of DJing
The true joy of being a DJ lies in these moments—seeing the smiles on faces, the uninhibited dancing, and the sheer joy that music brings to people’s lives. It’s about creating an atmosphere where everyone can let loose and be themselves. Whether it’s a familiar face from previous gigs or a newcomer experiencing my set for the first time, the connection forged through music is unparalleled.
Beyond the Decks
DJing at Subside is more than just playing tracks; it’s about reading the room, understanding the crowd, and delivering an experience that resonates. It’s about the late-night energy, the shared love for music, and the magic that happens when the right song hits at the right moment.
Looking Ahead
As I look back on the Subside set, I am reminded of why I love what I do. The joy of DJing is not just in the music but in the connections made, the memories created, and the shared experiences that linger long after the last track has played. I can’t wait to bring this energy to future gigs, continuing to craft unforgettable nights for all who come to dance and celebrate.
For those who missed out, don’t worry—there’s always another night, another set, and more memories to be made. If you want me to play at your event, you can book me here. I’m off to DJ a circus-themed wedding in Mapperley tonight! See you on the dance floor!
