A Feel-Good Night: DJ Set at The Actress & Bishop – 28th February 2025

‘Last Nite’, on Friday, 28th February 2025, I had the pleasure of DJing at The Actress & Bishop, delivering an electrifying mix of indie anthems, classic rock, and dancefloor favourites. It was a feel-good night packed with energy, nostalgia, and unexpected crowd-pleasers that kept the party going until the very last song.
A Slow Start, But a Big Finish
Every DJ set has its own rhythm, and this one was no exception. The night kicked off with some fresh indie dance grooves, gradually building the energy and setting the tone for what would become a memorable feel-good night. The early part of the evening saw people enjoying drinks, chatting, and nodding along to the music, but the dancefloor itself took a little while to warm up.
That all changed when Eurythmics – Here Comes The Rain Again hit the speakers. Suddenly, the vibe shifted, and the crowd found their groove. From that moment on, the energy only increased, with people moving, singing, and embracing the moment. A great DJ night is all about timing, and once the audience was engaged, there was no stopping them.
One of the standout moments of the night was Black Sabbath – Paranoid. With the Masters of Sabbath tribute act performing upstairs, this track landed perfectly, sparking plenty of headbanging and air guitar action on the dancefloor. It’s always special when a song connects with the crowd in just the right way, and this was one of those moments where everyone was locked into the same high-energy spirit.
Surprisingly, Robbie Williams, Take That, and John Newman also went down a storm. While you might expect indie and alternative anthems to be the biggest crowd-pleasers, it’s often the more unexpected tracks that bring people together in the best way. “Feel” by Robbie Williams had the entire room singing along, proving once again that a feel-good night isn’t just about the music—it’s about the memories that come with it. There’s something powerful about a great singalong moment that unites a room full of people, and those tracks certainly delivered.
Why the Right Music Makes for a Feel-Good Night
The key to an amazing DJ set is knowing how to read the room and play the right music at the right time. A feel-good night isn’t just about playing crowd-pleasers—it’s about creating an atmosphere where people can let go, dance, and enjoy themselves.
Indie classics like Arctic Monkeys – R U Mine? and The Killers – Somebody Told Me kept the energy high, while Take That – Shine and John Newman – Love Me Again gave the crowd a chance to belt out their favourite lyrics in full voice. When you see people singing at the top of their lungs with their arms around their friends, you know you’ve done your job right.
A good DJ night is also about balance. The setlist included a mix of indie, rock, pop, and classic dancefloor fillers, ensuring that there was something for everyone. The contrast between Foo Fighters – Everlong and Pulp – Common People, or between ABBA – Take a Chance on Me and New Order – Blue Monday, is what keeps the energy flowing and the crowd engaged.
