A Perfect Blend of Whimsy, Edge, and Celebration: Unforgettable Pop-Punk and Emo Wedding DJ Experience at Chris & Kim’s

If you’ve ever dreamed of a pop-punk and emo wedding filled with personality, high-energy tunes, and unforgettable moments, Chris and Kim’s big day at Highfield House was the perfect example of how to do it right.

This was hands down one of my favourite weddings ever—from the killer aesthetic to the amazing couple, to a dancefloor that never stopped moving.
With Halloween vibes, a pop-punk and emo-infused playlist, a Studio Ghibli/Adventure Time-themed cake, and a Guitar Hero battle instead of a first dance, this wedding truly celebrated Chris and Kim’s love for alternative music and culture.

Highfield House: A Dream Venue for a Pop-Punk & Emo Wedding
📍 Highfield House in Driffield, East Yorkshire, was the perfect backdrop for Chris and Kim’s alternative wedding.
This Victorian mansion-turned-boutique-hotel oozes character and gothic charm, featuring rich wood panelling, vintage chandeliers, and dramatic historic details. Since the wedding was in late October, the venue was fully decked out with gothic and Halloween-themed décor, setting the perfect moody yet vibrant atmosphere.
🖤 For couples looking for a venue that blends gothic elegance with a unique personality, Highfield House is a must-see!

Music: The Ultimate Pop-Punk & Emo Wedding Playlist
Chris and Kim were crystal clear—this wedding was all about their music. They wanted a pop-punk, emo, and alternative rock setlist that felt like the best night at their favourite club.
🎵 Some of the biggest floor-fillers of the night included:
✅ Neck Deep – In Bloom (a huge favourite of the couple!)
✅ A Day to Remember – All Signs Point to Lauderdale
✅ My Chemical Romance – Teenagers
✅ Paramore – Hard Times
✅ Sum 41 – Fat Lip
✅ Bring Me The Horizon – Can You Feel My Heart?
And then came the biggest surprise of the night…
When the Groom’s Pop-Punk Band Took Over the Dancefloor
Chris and Kim had requested I play some Stay Safe on the night so I’d made sure to get hold of some. I’d never heard of them before and so I had no idea why the dancefloor instantly exploded when I did.
Turns out, what they hadn’t mentioned is that Stay Safe is Chris’ own brilliant pop-punk band, and all the band members were at the wedding—along with a ready-made crowd of their biggest fans.
The whole room erupted in singing, dancing, and pure energy, making it one of the most unexpected yet unforgettable moments I’ve ever seen at a wedding.
🚀 Pro tip: If you or your partner are in a band, ask your DJ to play your music—you never know what kind of legendary moment it might create!
No First Dance? No Problem—Enter Guitar Hero!
Rather than a traditional first dance, Chris and Kim kicked off the night with a Guitar Hero battle on the dancefloor.
🎸 The song? Tenacious D – The Metal
🏆 The winner? Kim, of course!
After the battle, the Guitar Hero setup moved to another room where guests could challenge each other all night. It was such a fun, interactive way to bring people together and fit their personalities perfectly.

Flambe Entertainments: Setting the Night on Fire (Literally!)
🔥 Flambe Entertainments put on an incredible fire show out on the lawn, adding an extra layer of theatrical magic to the night, even getting Chris and Kim up to be part of the show!
Seeing their performers out in the dark, flames twisting and turning, made the whole wedding feel like a music video or fantasy film.
🔥 I’ve known Flambe for years from my time working as a stiltwalker and performer with Area 51 Entertainment, so it’s always great bumping into them at weddings where we’re both working.
🎆 Looking to add some spectacle to your wedding? A fire performance is a jaw-dropping way to do it.
